A creamy and flavorful White Bolognese Sauce combining tender ground meat with aromatic white wine and fresh herbs, perfect for a comforting Italian meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup carrot, finely diced
  • 1 pound ground veal or chicken
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Parmesan cheese, grated for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, garlic, celery, and carrot; sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add ground veal or chicken and cook, breaking up the meat, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Pour in the white wine and simmer until mostly evaporated, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add chicken broth, thyme, and bay leaf; reduce heat and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove bay leaf and stir in heavy cream; cook for an additional 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot over your choice of pasta, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

For added depth of flavor, try substituting half the veal with ground turkey or chicken. Serve with fresh parsley and crusty bread for a complete meal.
