Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground turkey burger
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add ground turkey burger, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned and no longer pink.
  5. Mix in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to coat the meat with spices.
  6. Pour in the broth, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and black beans. Stir to combine.
  7. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cover. Let cook for 20-25 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Adjust seasoning if needed, then serve hot with your choice of toppings.

Notes

For extra depth of flavor, try adding a tablespoon of tomato paste with the spices or topping with fresh cilantro and avocado slices.
