  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, grated onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them into the slow cooker.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together apple butter, bourbon, ketchup, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until smooth.
  4. Pour the bourbon apple butter sauce over the meatballs in the slow cooker, stirring gently to coat.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until meatballs are cooked through and tender.
  6. Gently stir the meatballs before serving and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce or serve these meatballs with crusty bread or over mashed potatoes for a hearty meal.
