Shrimp Cheddar Pie

A savory shrimp cheddar pie combining tender shrimp with rich cheddar cheese in a flaky crust, perfect for a comforting dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound cooked shrimp, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 prepared 9-inch pie crust
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Stir in the cooked shrimp, sautéed vegetables, and shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
  5. Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and pour the shrimp mixture into the crust evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Allow the pie to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve the pie with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal. For extra richness, sprinkle additional cheddar cheese on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
