Homemade shrimp casserole ready to serve

This shrimp casserole is a comforting baked dish featuring tender shrimp in a creamy sauce topped with a crispy breadcrumb crust, perfect for a hearty family dinner.

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add cooked rice, mushrooms, onions, and shrimp to the bowl and mix well.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the cheese layer.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of paprika on top before baking or serve with a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
