Peppermint Bark Brownies

Decadent chocolate brownies swirled with crushed peppermint candies and topped with a layer of smooth white chocolate. These Peppermint Bark Brownies are the perfect festive treat for the holidays.

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces white chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup crushed peppermint candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and sugar. Beat until well combined.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let brownies cool completely in the pan.
  10. Melt white chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  11. Spread melted white chocolate evenly over the cooled brownies.
  12. Immediately sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over the white chocolate.
  13. Let the white chocolate set completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, add a few drops of peppermint extract to the white chocolate before melting.
