Orange Clove Cookies

Delight in these aromatic Orange Clove Cookies, perfectly spiced and bursting with citrus flavor for a cozy treat.

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, ground cloves, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, drizzle melted white chocolate over the cooled cookies or sprinkle with a little coarse sugar before baking.
