Limoncello Tiramisu

Limoncello Tiramisu is a refreshing Italian dessert that combines the classic creamy layers of tiramisu with the bright, zesty flavor of Limoncello liqueur for a delightful citrus twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Limoncello liqueur
  • 1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together.
  2. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water and whisk continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes pale, about 8 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Combine the espresso and Limoncello in a shallow dish.
  7. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture and layer them in the bottom of a serving dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, then sprinkle with half of the lemon zest.
  9. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  11. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

For an extra lemony flavor, add a teaspoon of lemon extract to the mascarpone mixture or serve with fresh lemon slices.
