Hot Buttered Rum is a warm, cozy cocktail blending rich butter and aromatic spices with dark rum, perfect for chilly evenings or festive gatherings.

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Hot water
  • Whipped cream (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a preheated mug, combine the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir until well mixed into a smooth paste.
  2. Add the dark rum to the mug.
  3. Pour hot water over the mixture, about 4 to 6 ounces, and stir thoroughly until the butter has melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Top with whipped cream if desired, and sprinkle a little extra cinnamon or nutmeg as garnish.
  5. Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, spiced flavors.

Notes

For an extra indulgent flavor, use spiced rum instead of dark rum or add a splash of vanilla extract to the butter mixture before stirring.
