Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips evenly.
  6. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to about 0.5-inch thickness.
  7. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flair, decorate the cookies with pink or red icing after cooling, or sprinkle with coarse sugar before baking for added texture.
