These Halloween Crinkle Cookies are soft, chewy, and perfect for a spooky treat! Rolled in powdered sugar before baking, they create a festive cracked appearance.

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, for rolling
  • Orange and black sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. If using, put orange and black sprinkles on a separate plate.
  8. Roll the chilled dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in powdered sugar, ensuring it is well coated. For Halloween theme, roll half the cookie dough balls in sprinkles if desired.
  9. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
