Ground Beef Bulgogi is a savory and sweet Korean-inspired dish featuring marinated ground beef cooked to tender perfection, ideal for a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and black pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Add the ground beef, chopped onion, and green onions to the marinade. Mix well to combine.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the marinated beef mixture.
  4. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until the beef is browned and fully cooked, about 6–8 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine.
  6. Serve hot over steamed rice or wrapped in lettuce leaves.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, add a tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the marinade or serve with kimchi on the side.
