Taco Casserole

A flavorful and easy-to-make taco casserole combining seasoned ground beef, cheese, and crunchy tortilla chips baked to perfection for a comforting Mexican-inspired dinner.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 10-12 tortilla chips, crushed
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and salsa to the beef; stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a baking dish, layer half of the crushed tortilla chips.
  5. Spread the seasoned beef mixture evenly over the chips.
  6. Top with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.
  7. Sprinkle remaining crushed tortilla chips on top.
  8. Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  10. Garnish with sour cream, green onions, black olives, and cilantro before serving.

Notes

For extra creaminess, add a layer of refried beans under the seasoned beef or serve with guacamole.
