A rich and moist chocolate cake perfect for any celebration or indulgent treat, featuring deep cocoa flavor and a tender crumb.

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water carefully; the batter will be thin.
  5. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely before frosting.

Notes

For an extra moist cake, consider adding a tablespoon of espresso powder to the batter to enhance the chocolate flavor.
