Alfredo Sauce

A rich and creamy Italian classic Alfredo sauce made with butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese, perfect for pasta dishes.

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  4. Reduce heat to low and gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in chopped fresh parsley if using.
  7. Serve immediately over cooked pasta or your favorite dish.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream. To enhance flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of white wine during cooking.
