A Vibrant Bowl of Homemade Cranberry Salsa

This vibrant Cranberry Salsa is a festive and flavorful appetizer perfect for the holidays or any time of year. It’s a delightful mix of sweet, tart, and spicy, and goes wonderfully with tortilla chips, grilled chicken, or brie cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse the cranberries until coarsely chopped.
  2. Transfer the chopped cranberries to a medium bowl.
  3. Add the red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice, brown sugar, cumin, and salt to the bowl.
  4. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, crackers, or grilled meats.

Notes

For a sweeter salsa, add a tablespoon or two of orange marmalade. To tame the heat, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño.
