This Christmas Cracker Candy, also known as Saltine Toffee, is a sweet and salty treat that’s incredibly easy to make. With just a few ingredients, you can create a festive and addictive dessert perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
  • Optional: Sprinkles, chopped nuts, or crushed peppermint candy for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, covering the entire surface.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and sugar together over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook for 3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and caramel-colored. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the butter-sugar mixture evenly over the saltine crackers, spreading it with a spatula to cover all the crackers.
  5. Bake for 5-6 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let sit for a minute or two to allow the chocolate to melt.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee. Sprinkle with your desired toppings (sprinkles, nuts, peppermint).
  8. Let cool completely until the chocolate is set. Break into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

For a peppermint twist, crush peppermint candies and sprinkle them over the melted chocolate. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
