A quick and flavorful Chinese Beef Broccoli Stir-fry featuring tender beef slices and crisp broccoli in a savory soy-based sauce, perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Blanch broccoli florets in boiling water for 2 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and ginger; stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned and just cooked through, about 3–4 minutes. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add broccoli and stir-fry for 1 minute.
  6. Return beef to the skillet. Stir in remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  7. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, stirring often, until sauce thickens and everything is heated through.
  8. Drizzle with sesame oil, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed, and serve hot with steamed rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the beef overnight and serve with steamed jasmine rice or noodles for a complete meal.
