Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts or homemade dough
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 1/4 cup toasted shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Roll out pie crust dough and cut into rounds approximately 3 inches in diameter.
  5. Place a spoonful of caramelized apples onto the center of half the rounds.
  6. Drizzle a small amount of caramel sauce over the apples, then sprinkle with toasted shredded coconut.
  7. Cover with the remaining dough rounds, pressing edges firmly to seal.
  8. Use a fork to crimp edges and poke a few holes on top for steam to escape.
  9. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool completely, then drizzle melted chocolate over the top.
  11. Allow chocolate to set before serving.

Notes

For an extra indulgence, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
