Cajun Cream Sauce

A rich and flavorful Cajun cream sauce combining aromatic spices with smooth cream, perfect for elevating seafood, chicken, or pasta dishes.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper; stir to combine.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Add lemon juice, then season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
  9. Serve warm over your choice of seafood, chicken, or pasta.

Notes

For extra depth, try adding a splash of white wine before adding the cream or customize the heat level by adjusting the cayenne pepper.
