These homemade Breakfast Pop Tarts are a delightful way to start your day, combining flaky pastry with a sweet fruit filling for a nostalgic and delicious breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your choice)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar, for sprinkling
  • Optional: icing made from powdered sugar and milk for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 equal rectangles.
  3. Place half of the rectangles on the prepared baking sheet and spoon about 1 tablespoon of fruit preserves onto the center of each.
  4. Brush the edges of these rectangles with the beaten egg to help seal.
  5. Top each with the remaining rectangles and press edges firmly with a fork to seal completely.
  6. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar for a golden, crunchy finish.
  7. Cut small slits on top of each pop tart to allow steam to escape during baking.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before optionally drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar and milk.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade breakfast pop tarts.
