These Basketball Pretzel Cookies combine salty pretzels and sweet cookie dough to create a fun, sporty treat perfect for game days or basketball-themed parties.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 20 small pretzels
  • Orange and black decorating icing or melted candy melts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them spaced on the baking sheet.
  7. Press one pretzel gently onto the top of each dough ball.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Using orange icing, decorate the pretzel cookies with basketball lines and add black icing details for the finest lines.
  11. Allow icing to set before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on each cookie before baking or try using mini chocolate chips in the dough for a chocolaty twist.
