A warm and comforting Asian wonton soup featuring delicate handmade wontons, a fragrant savory broth, and a medley of fresh, crisp vegetables for a nourishing meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 200g ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup bok choy, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup sliced shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Optional: red chili flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground pork, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten edges with water and fold to seal, forming wontons.
  3. In a large pot, bring chicken broth and water to a boil.
  4. Add wontons to the boiling broth and cook for 4–5 minutes until they float and are cooked through.
  5. Add bok choy, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms to the pot. Simmer for another 3–4 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and additional soy sauce if needed.
  7. Ladle soup into bowls, garnish with green onions, fresh cilantro, and optional red chili flakes. Serve hot.

Notes

For an extra depth of flavor, simmer the broth with a few slices of fresh ginger and a star anise before adding the wontons.
